Tornado, Gun Threat, Earthquake? It must be the end of the world

and I feel fine. No, really. After last Fridays tornado in Warren County we get a gun threat at the Middle School. Today everyone was going to die. Or so it said on the bathroom wall. Now, I do believe whoever wrote that should be strung up by their toenails. But I also doubted that anyone was going to do anything. And they didn't. Middle Schoolers by definition are DRAMATIC. But they had extra security today. And of coarse, most kids stayed home anyway. Not mine, Lucy said she was not going to give up her perfect attendance(?!?!) and Rachel said since she was up anyway she might as well go, but please come pick her up before the basketball game that was scheduled to start at One. Harrison lives for missing school and spent the morning getting ready for his camp out tonight.

And then there was the stinking earthquake. At 4:37. I do not like to be woken up. Especially when I already have a terrible cold and feel gross. And then I couldn't fall back to sleep. Yuck! Lucy said Bandit was asleep in her room when the earthquake hit and he was very unhappy. But then went right back to sleep. Lucky dog!

So what will it be next week? Floods? Asteroid? Gamma rays?

It is raining. No. It is absolutely pouring. The wind is blowing. Lightning and Thunder are fighting with each other. I have a constant desire to go and turn the radio down. Or the television. They aren't turned on. Mother nature, however, is turned up to 10. To quote This Is Spinal Tap. She has drawn an 11 on her volume button, so she is even louder. I get to sit here and worry about my 15 year old who is driving about 60 miles to come home right now. Through the storm. I checked the radar. He will have this storm the whole way. He will be riding with a (hopefully) experienced driver on a *GULP* school bus. I am not in a happy place right now. No one else in my family ever finds a situation like this one even mildly alarming. I am about to have a full fledged panic attack. I hate bad weather when you have to be out in it. i love rain when I am inside. When we are all inside.

He called at 8:45 to say that the game had just ended. And to ask if we were at the game. He really is a kid who plays just for himself. He never knows if we have made the drive to watch the games. He never even looks at the stands. Some of my kids have a hard time playing sports because they spend so much of the time watching us to see if we are watching! This attitude is good and bad. He has no desire to please anyone else. So he is driven, as long as it interests him. That makes school hard. He is an A or F guy. 100s and 0s are usually what are on his report cards.

Eek more thunder and lightning.

*EDIT* He called me at 10:30 to tell me that they were leaving the resturaunt and would be back to school about 11:20. I picked him up at 11:25. We got home about 11:35. THat gave him 6 hours and 35 minutes to shower, sleep, brush teeth, etc, before he had to be back in the car to start the next day. How long can he keep up this pace?

A COMPLEX LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM IS DEVELOPING ACROSS THE SOUTH THIS MORNING...WITH A BROAD AREA OF RAIN REACHING INTO THE WESTERN AREAS OF MIDDLE TENNESSEE AT MID MORNING. THE RAIN AREA WILL CONTINUE TO ADVANCE EASTWARD THROUGH THE MORNING AND INTO THE AFTERNOON. ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS ARE POSSIBLE DURING THE AFTERNOON.
ONE TO TWO INCHES OF RAIN CAN BE EXPECTED OVER THE NORTHWEST...ROUGHLY WEST OF A LINE FROM SPRINGFIELD...TO DICKSON...TO LINDEN. ELSEWHERE IN MIDDLE TENNESSEE ABOUT AN INCH CAN BE EXPECTED...WITH A FEW LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS.
THE LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM IS FORECAST TO TRACK THROUGH MIDDLE TENNESSEE LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND EARLY EVENING...AND THEN INTO EASTERN KENTUCKY BY MIDNIGHT. AS THIS SYSTEM PASSES THROUGH THE AREA...THE WINDS WILL SHIFT TO THE WEST...USHERING IN MUCH COLDER AIR. TEMPERATURES WILL BE FALLING QUICKLY OVERNIGHT...AND INTO THE UPPER 20S TO AROUND FREEZING IN MANY AREAS...BY SUNDAY MORNING. AS A RESULT OF THE MUCH COLDER TEMPERATURES...THE RAIN WILL CHANGE TO SNOW AFTER MIDNIGHT IN MIDDLE TENNESSEE...AND CONTINUE THROUGH SUNDAY MORNING IN MOST AREAS...AND TAPERING OFF INTO THE AFTERNOON ON THE PLATEAU. IT IS POSSIBLE THAT COUNTIES ALONG THE KENTUCKY BORDER COULD GET ONE HALF TO AROUND ONE INCH OF SNOW ACCUMULATION...WITH AREAS ALONG AND ADJACENT TO INTERSTATE 40...GETTING FROM A DUSTING UP TO ONE HALF INCH. EASTERN AREAS OF MIDDLE TENNESSEE AND ALONG THE PLATEAU COULD GET UP TO AROUND ONE INCH OF SNOW ACCUMULATION.
THE SNOW IS EXPECTED TO END ON THE PLATEAU BY EARLY SUNDAY EVENING... WITH TEMPERATURES FALLING INTO THE 20 TO 25 DEGREE RANGE ACROSS ALL OF MIDDLE TENNESSE SUNDAY NIGHT.
WIND CHILLS DURING THE DAY SUNDAY AND SUNDAY NIGHT WILL BE IN THE TEENS...SO BUNDLE UP.
