The Riches have a lot of kids. The kids spend a lot of time swimming in their well stocked pond. Obviously the catfish get fat nibbling toes. They are monsters! My kids like to swim in here also, after seeing this fish maybe I whould worry a little.

I thought that I would go to the quilt shop
But it only took about 30 minutes for Adrian to have Lasik surgery today. We had to drive an hour to Cookeville (the closest city with a doctor that performs Lasik.) I dropped him off and went in to ask what the minimum amount of time he would be in the office.
One hour she replied.
The paperwork said to plan on being there two hours, but one was okay. I could go to Salvation Army and the quilt store.
Totally stoked!!
30 minutes later I have perused Salvation Army (all junk except a pair of tags on sandals for Adrian since he broke his a few weeks ago) and was pulling in at the quilt shop when my phone rings.
With Adrian's ring tone. {{SIGH}}
He's done.
At least tomorrow he has to go back for a post up check up.
Quilt Shop?
Cheddar's ?
Old Navy?
Hobby Lobby?
Probably not all of them, but I really am hoping they have some of the unicorn print that Heather Ross (I think) has out now.

Stone Door State Park
Later that night Harrison cooked some of his world famous Great Value Ravioli. YUM YUM. He used this little folding Sterno stove. Very light and handy when you back pack in to the campsite like they did this time.
The next morning they decided to see if they had 9 lives and jump offs of cliffs. Some people call it repelling. I call it Repulsive. But who am I to judge?
Well now that very small not steep rock was easy. Now for something a little more terrifying. I mean more fun. Lets tie a rope to a puny looking tree and jump backwards off a 100 foot tall cliff. II believe I have called these boys lemmings already when they went cliff jumping into the river. Maybe I should start calling them clinically insane!!
Here, it has a little ledge at the beginning. No big Deal.
GULP!! BIG DEAL!!!MOM DID NOT NEED TO SEE THIS!!!!!!
Just another day living with Danger Boy.
AND
HIS
DAD!!................

a lot happened today and giveaway winner announced!!!
I have so much to tell all of you! Really, I do. Let me start with this...
On this day, 37 years ago, my mother-in-law gave birth to her smartest, funniest, best looking child.
Just kidding, Gretchen, I know that really describes you!
Today is the birthday of my sweet husband. We had a party for him. The kids hung streamers and balloons and I made him his special birthday dinner. Wait until you hear what he asked for.
Have I mentioned how much I love this man?
Let me preface this by telling you that most years for Father's Day and his birthday I make a long involved meal. Something he loves that I never make because it is a huge hassle. But not this year!
He asked for.....
You are all going to be jealous.....
Here it comes.......
Frozen pizza.
I know, he does rock. He wanted a frozen Pizzeria Uno sausage pizza.
NO PROBLEM!
******************************************************
Part 2 of my many things to tell you.....
One year ago today Harrison had to have an emergency appendectomy. I blogged about it HERE. It was a harrowing week last year at this time. Needless to say Adrian didn't get ANY birthday dinner last year. We stayed at the hospital all week.
Good times!
*******************************************************
NOW there is the little matter of the book giveaway....
I put all the names in a very festive orange bucket and let the birthday boy pick one out. And I took a picture. Good thing, because as soon as he picked one out he threw it back in and said take another picture.
What a funny guy. We let him get away with it since it is his birthday.
I would show you the picture, but my camera died trying to take that last picture, so I have my battery in the charger.
I guess
I will
just tell
you that
it was
The Accidental Housewife!
SO email me at cnhale(at)gmail(dot)com with your address and if you want Jan to sign the book in any special way.
I haven't actually seen Jan since I decided to give her book away in my first ever giveaway. She did not come in on Monday while I was at the library. I may have to call her and go to her house tomorrow after work.
I hope she is excited.
My husband asked me where the accidental housewife lives and I told him she is from Montana. Now he can't stop singing that Marie Osmond song, Meet Me In Montana.
Great, just great, and it is his birthday so I can't complain.

scout camp goof
This morning at 5:15 am my husband left the house with 2 very excited boys. And yes, 16 year olds don't usually act too excited about anything, but he was about this. They went to Scout Camp. At Boxwell. With lots of boys from Middle Tennessee that go to our same church. This was a big deal.
Harrison has made friends with a boy that is visiting for the summer. His dad is a builder and they are building a dome. But not just any dome. The worlds largest concrete dome. Here on a mountain in our little town. It is for some Buddhists or something like that.
I know, it is unusual to meet a Catholic in this small southern town. A Buddhist is unheard of. The area must have good Karma cause they bought several hundred acres to build their dome on.
Harrison's new friend is from Idaho and will be going back soon. Harrison has been trying to talk this new friend into going to Scout Camp with him. Yesterday Adrian gets a call (since he is the Scoutmaster of our little Troop) from Idaho friend asking if it was too late for him to go.
Today.
Surprisingly, it was not and Adrian made arrangements to meet with them and give them the paperwork and the phone number of an amazingly wonderful Doctor that we go to church with so he could run by her house and get the physical.
But here is the best part. When Idaho friend called, the connection was a little off and Adrian was having a hard time understanding him. He asked him to spell his name, since Adrian was a little unsure of what he had said. Adrian spent the next few hours calling this friend Ben Jamin. Kind off a funny last name, don't you think?
Ben Jamin.
Do you get it? Jamin is not his last name. He was spelling his first name:
B-E-N-J-A-M-I-N
We have made a whole lot of fun of Adrian over this one. Harrison sent him an e-mail last night asking him if he had Ben Jamin lately.
Adrian seems to think it is not that funny. That is why I feel compelled to share this incident with the whole world.
Since I know his sister will want to get to make fun of him having a blonde moment!

Still steamed, but the other kiddos are racking up the awards
I have received many nice comments and talked to a lot of people today who said that Ella really got the shaft about the AR thing. Thank you.
Then I went to Harrison's award program today. He got 4 awards and a medal. For most AR points in his team.
And they said how many he had.
OOOOHHHHH I better complain to the school board that our privacy was invaded! Oh, and he had over 600 points. Last year he had the most in his grade and that made his friend Stephen mad so this year Stephen made sure he got more points. Over 800! See how that works, kids will push themselves harder as you raise the bar.
And to think, I don't even have an education degree.
So our delightful principal is going to have a little visit with me tomorrow and unless I am really happy when I leave our superintendent will be next.
***********************************************
And know for something completely different, a man with three buttocks.
Kidding. But can you name the TV show?
Okay, so what I really want to say is that my sweet husband came tonight and taught the Young Women how to make soda can camp stoves. It was so great and they each made one to take home.
You Rock Adrian!

A random update for those of you that are obsessed with every detail of my families life. Yes, I mean you creepy stalker person....
Tonight was Ella's first fast pitch ball game. Her reaction:
"That ball comes at you fast!"
It's that natural athletic intuition that makes her such an excellent ball player.
********************************************************************
Sunday Adrian was released from three years of serving as Elders Quorum President.
Yes, he is going to get another calling. No, I can't tell you what it is.
********************************************************************
Ella and Molly received awards for reading this week. Molly had just over 100 AR points and Ella had 510. Her school used to give prizes to the kids who had the most in each grade. Ella was trying to get the most in the whole school. All they did was give her an award that said she was in the 200 point club. Excuse me? They refuse to acknowledge achievement and they reward mediocrity. They said they could not say how many points they actually had because of "privacy issues!" Privacy issues my tushie!
Sorry for my potty mouth.
I am sick to death of the elementary school here and their bizarre agenda. I fought with them two years ago when I was in charge of Book Character Day (politically correct Halloween). They wanted me to give each child in the school a ribbon that said, "I participated in Book Character Day"
Even if they didn't dress up.
Why should we give them a ribbon saying they participated when they did not? To celebrate mediocrity? To not hurt anyone's feeling? I said no, they gave out ribbons anyway. I have not helped with anything since then. Yep. I have had between 1 and 4 students at a time going to that school for 11 years now. And I have had about enough.
Why should Ella work her tail off when they don't even acknowledge it? I know, because hard work is its own reward, right? Sometimes when you are nine years old a pat on the back is needed, too!
OOOH, did you see that rant coming?
I better run and burn the 25 copies of the Powerpoint Ella and I made of her class pictures. We love to do things for Ella's teacher. She is the BEST teacher we have ever had. And we have had a whole lot of teachers in the past 11 years with our 6 kids. Guess how our fantastic principal treats the best teacher ever?
He fires her.
yep. Our principal can go suck eggs.
Wonder if he will read this. Wonder if it would make a difference? nah!
