Fun Monday

Lisa's Chaos is hosting this weeks Fun Monday. Here was the assignment:

Let’s meet your pets. I think most of us have at least one pet and I would like
to see your fluffy or scaly pal. If you don’t have a camera you can tell us
about him/her/them. If you don’t have a pet tell us about a pet you had or a pet
you want. If for some weird reason you hate all animals we want to know why
gosh-dang-it

We have 4 Maltese. One male and three females. The kids own and breed these dogs. They are earning a pretty good amount towards college, cars, missions, houses, whatever they end up doing with the money. I am afraid I do not get along with the Maltese very well. They are not like a big dog and I am used to big dogs. Lots of people love them, I know they make great pets, we have the proof from how popular our puppies are, they just have gotten on my last nerve. They live in the backyard. This is a puppy we had from a litter a few years ago. They have all looked basically the same. I would try to go and take a picture of the big (relative term for 8 pound dogs!) dogs, but they never stand still when I am out there. And it is dark. I promised myself that I would get this post up tonight so people like Peter could actually read it on "their" Monday. This little pup went to a really cute couple. They drove an hour and then sat on my kitchen floor for about another hour tyring to pick. He was a real sweetie and I know he is spoiled rotten!

Here are one of the 5 cats that we have roaming around. We have had cats almost the whole time we have lived here. A couple of years ago they had all run off and we hadn't gotten any new ones. I was enjoying the fact that I had less pet food to buy, one less thing to worry about.

Then fall came. And with it: MICE! OH MY GOSH!! It is a post for another day but let me just tell you. Our farm was over run with mice and I was really close to just moving to a hotel and getting an exterminator to come and kill them all. It was really bad. Really really bad.

Here is our one true pet. He became a pet just this year. We live out in the country and dogs just kind of wander and do their own thing. He came along a few years ago and slowly started to do his own thing at our house more and more. Last winter we put a heat lamp on the porch for him when it was really cold. This winter he did something we have never done. We let a dog into the house. It has been a new experience for us. We couldn't have asked for an easier dog, but he is still a pet, and pets are work! He sheds, of course. Nice black hair, everywhere.

He does all sorts of cute, smart and endearing things. My favorite is how much he loves my husband. I swear Bandit is going to teach himself to talk just so he can say daddy! Adrian has started to really get into his little helper. He even talks baby talk to him. He will deny it if you ask him, but he does. In the morning Bandit comes in s little before the alarm goes off and puts his nose up against Adrian's arm. Then he usually sneezes, because he has a human allergy. (-;
Adrian will then use a nice baby talk voice and say something like,"Are you hungry, buddy? Do you want me to get you some breakfast?" He then gets up and feeds the dog. 5:30 in the morning. Ask the kids the last time their dad made them breakfast! He really is a fun dog. Adrian has also started taking with him in the truck. Tonight he told me that when it warms up he is going to teach him how to ride in the back of the truck. Oh boy, Bandit has no idea how much he will enjoy feeling the wind in his face and the bugs on his teeth.

Bandit is an attention seeker. He loves to get his back scratched. He scratches it himself if no one will do it for him. He gets up under the porch swing and rubs himself. He does something really strange when he scratches his own back. He barks at his tail end. I know, it is crazy. He kind of rubs back and forth and then throws his head back and barks/growls at his back end. It is funny. If he wants you to pet him he pushes himself up under your hand and moves your hand back and forth, to make sure you get the idea.

Here is a game that William made up for FHE. It is just something that us weird Hales would think is funny. I should have taken video so you could have heard bandit. All of the kids got down around him and scratched and rubbed him as hard as they could. He was in heaven. He was kind of growling/moaning. It was hysterical. The kids were enjoying it as much as Bandit. They were all laughing so hard.

After they got down we had to vacuum. there was a black spot on the carpet from all the hair they pulled of him. That grosses me out and makes me want to rethink the whole dog in the house thing!

Well, there you have it. Now head over to Lisa's and visit the rest of the animals!

I love the Maltese puppies. I'm a small dog person. But, I'm glad your big dog found a good home in you.

That Maltese puppy is adorable. I also think that is a very sweet kitty face. And Bandit . . . what a pretty dog.

Ahh gorgeous animals. I'm with Rc and you on big dogs. I love the littlies, but when we have our next dog I'm hoping it will be a lovable lump. Big sigh.
